They're going to have to free up some wages.

That guardian article about club profitability made the point that there's a wage rule related to wages paid in 2013. It's difficult if you had a relatively low wage bill then to be able to grow wages now.

They've cast the die by appointing Manuel - it'll be game over if he fucks off having been undermined on purchasing or transfers. And of course Sullivan understands this.

Pellegrini mugged in chile, and now mugged in east London, welcome to westham united, and still some of you like this mob that's infested our great club.

The only thing which might indicate a real change is the fact they shit their fucking kecks at the Burnley game.
Won't hold my breath though.

I hope it's true and they back him, his Malaga mate is due to join soon (or was according to the papers, so maybe more shite)

No I wouldn't be totally surprised but I'd put more in stead what Council says than mirror wank journos.

But after whats happened I can't believe they'd be that stupid not to back Pelle with some serious funds.

Re: Pellegrini: "Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team"
One of the things Pellegrini said when he joined was every time he spoke to Sullivan he realised how much he wanted him, and that during talks they agreed on lots of things in regards to the club’s ambitions.

I’m pretty sure rumours were we tried to get him before Moyes but could only get him in the summer providing we stay up and give him funds. Which would explain the cheap 6 month contract for Moyes and a January transfer window profit after shifting Ayew and Fonte.

Re: Pellegrini: "Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team"
Whilst we are all highly sceptical that Sullivan will spend big. I think Pellegrini knows full well that he is working within a financial framework.

The report about needing to force the owners to spend big (if this what he did indeed say - translation etc.) there is another quote

"Signing [Claudio] Bravo for West Ham is not viable," he admitted. "It is not in West Ham's salary possibilities."

Presumably, £190,000 a week for the PSG player wasn't either and Pellegrini might have been the one to pull the plug. He has to manage a team and he might not want too big descrepancies in salaries.

It was well documented at the time Moyes joined us, that another manager was really interested, but wouldn't take the job until the end of the season.

It would make sense.

I'm telling you its a fact, that West Ham flew out to talk to Pellegrini in China, in December about taking over. Yes.

Re: Pellegrini: "Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team"
As I said at the time when Pellegrini was announced, this is West Ham you just know it will end up a shitshow.
Step 1. Manager wants players gives list to owners.
Step 2. Owners laugh themselves silly and tell the manager to fuck off and find cheaper/loan/South American players
Step 3. Manager has to sign over the hill/injury prone/last minute panic players
Step 4. Lose first 5 games

Re: Pellegrini: "Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team"
As crass as the current owners are I think that after last season they realise they have to change their outlook as to how we are going to get to the next level....whatever their perception of that is?

To get a Manager of the calibre of Pellegrini is a start. For his first signing albeit a free transfer in Ryan Fredericks also bodes well for our immediate future. All we need now is to see the possible "ins" and "outs" that the Manager will over see, then we can judge which direction we are likely to take.

I echo what others have said Pellegrini could walk into a far bigger job than West Ham. I can't see him standing for the crap slung around that their other Managers have taken. I guess he sees this as a challenge.

I don't know why people are so defensive about this. The more pressure that's on GSB the better.

I have seen some more, unrelated, articles come out of the interview,

For example:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5811471/Manuel-Pellegrini-tried-sign-Alexis-Sanchez-Arturo-Vidal-Manchester-City.html

So there is a more there than in that Spanish article but I have not seen the Spanish for the "force" comment.

I can't find a single mention of 'forcing the owners to form a competitive team' he does mention 'afloje' meaning to loosen the purse strings, so he can bring in a big name signing.

The gist of the story is he wants to make a big impact summer signing that he hopes will eventually lead to other big name players signing for the club

Swiss, would you be really surprised if this was actually true?

I don't know if it is or not. But I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Our owners are fucking idiots.
